The committee planned from the day after Forum, 2017, sometimes with lots of email exchanges, but always coming together to agree. The execution was not without it's bumps, but overwhelmingly, the event was a Smash!
We had 24 First Timers out of a total 75 attendees, with 14 of our 17 Chapters represented. Thanks goes out to our Representative, Catherine Schonenberger, NAWIC National President for coming from New Hampshire to attend our Conference. Your commitment to our organization is appreciated. We also had two other out-of-region guests: Jill Hanson, National Secretary and Kristey Stewart, South Atlantic Region Director. It was wonderful for our members to see you and get to know you all better.
The Welcome Mixer was a delight of new members, prospects, and friends interacting, socializing and networking. The Greater Little Rock NAWIC ladies even came dressed in themed attire. Their jackets, scarves, and the entire look being a "take-off" on the Pink Ladies from Grease. Be sure to find their look in the photos!
During the Business Meeting, both the Pre-Convention and Post-Convention Summary of Actions were presented. If you have not reviewed these, you can find them on the National website. Also discussed were two proposals related to member voting at AMEC and for Region Directors. These By-Law changes are also posted on the main landing page of the Member Center on the National website. If you have any questions, or concerns about these changes, please send to me for distribution to the National Board, no later than December 1, 2017.
Our keynote speaker, Lindsay Ophus from Hilti, Inc. had everyone enthralled, as she delivered an engaging and informative presentation on the new Silica Standards. Truthfully, some of the new requirements are scary, but not when organizations plan their operations and applications properly. If your company has not been briefed, you'll want to contact your Hilti representative for instruction on the new OSHA requirements.
Huge thanks to those who stepped up to present workshops on Saturday afternoon. They were full of information and interaction! It was wonderful to see First Timers and Seasoned members alike learning and growing in their NAWIC roles.
And lastly, the planning Committee deserves a HUGE Thank you for all of their hard work to pull this event together. Without their dedication, it would not have been a Smashing success!

I am super excited to be your President of the Fort Worth Chapter #1 this year! Thank you for the honor. I am surrounded by a wonderful group of women that embody leadership, enthusiasm and dedication. With these ladies by my side, we will accomplish many things this year.
We had our strategic plan in September. There were many great ideas that came out of it. Great minds working together! The main goal during this year for me is to create more value in your membership to you and your employer. Some things that are being put into place to try to do that are:
AFC in Memphis, TN is right around the corner. It is not too late to register. Your SC Region Director, Laurie Jimenez, has a lot planned. Our very own, Lori Donnell, is conducting a workshop on NAWIC 101.
Also, we have our fun run/walk coming up next month. All proceeds will be going to our NFWF (NAWIC Fort Worth Foundation). It will be on November 4th. There will be more details in the body of the Blueprint. Hope to see you and your friends there for a fun run and food at the Woodshed!
